W2K Pro SP4 - Office 2000

When I export data from the 400 into Excel:
1- numeric values are shown with the leading zero(s) dropped in a cell

2- if the number has only zeros after the decimal point, they also are
dropped but that can be changed by formatting the cell
3- when exporting a column defined as character that has only numbers,
all leading zeros are dropped

When I export the same data into a csv or tab delimited file & view that via
Word Pad, the zeros are there & numeric values also show the correct number
of places after the decimal point.

So, what can be done to keep all the zeros in place when exporting into
Excel? Formatting the cell as text does not bring the dropped leading zeros
back.

Thanks - Dennis.
