Some of the posts got me thinking back to the good old DOS days.  Could you
go to a DOS prompt and use the FIND command and redirect the output to
another file?  It appears to be used for finding text within files.  I
can't say that I've ever tried to use it but I would think that you could
do something like:

find "text" > \results.txt

If there was no text within the files to search for you might be able to
just not put anything between the quotes.
