I got royally pi**ed with IE last week when it crashed my PC (blue screen) 
for the third time in 3 weeks when right clicking a link and selecting 
Open.  To be fair (oh how can I possibly say that about a Microsoft 
product !  ;-) ) I suspect it may be conflicting with my iomega Automatic 
Backup software that came with my external DVD drive). 

I downloaded and installed Mozilla Firefox 0.9.3 from
        http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/
and have been reasonably happy, but:

1) Yes, you need stinking IE to run Windows Update

2) I have his a couple of sites that give me a screen saying "Unsuppoorted 
browser" and suggesting I use IE
        (instead I wrote sarcastic emails to them telling them that I will 
simply take my business elsewhere)

3) Beware that a pop-up blocker is active by default, so you may need to 
double click on the icon that appears at lower left of status bar and 
unlock sites you want to allow pop-ups from (one example, aircanada.ca if 
you click to select the departure & arrival cities you will have to permit 
pop-ups for that site)

4) I had a couple of screens that would not update (like the Time 
settings) when configuring a D-Link 524 wireless router (but that may have 
been me forgetting to allow the pop-ups again after I changed it's LAN IP 
address)

5) When I installed it it migrated all my bookmarks (favourites) but I 
wish it had kept them in the same sequence they had been arranged in in my 
IE favourites list (a lot of manual resequencing)

I just use Mozilla. Forget all that other trash. Of course, being
on a Microsloth machine, I HAVE to have IE in order to do updates.

As I understand it, the Netscape browser is built with Mozilla, but also
includes AOL "features", some not "good" or "nice".

Anyone know better?
