When I first got XP Home (about a year and a half ago), I thought it was
kind of slow. I discovered this site:
http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm
which offers tips on shutting down unneeded services that eat up CPU. I
tried it, and I noticed a definite improvement. I recommend this guy --
the name is a little strange, but I've been happy so far.
