I had a similar question. Might be a matter of security, and maybe performance. But there is an option to use an ODBC link to the AS/400 PF, instead of an import. Then the connection is essentially live - but security issues abound here.

To automate this from CL takes using, say, the CPYTOIMPF command, then RUNRMTCMD to the PC to run Access with the MDB in question, maybe with a default startup of some kind. Or a VB app that can execute the functions against the Access database. You just need something you can call.
