I wouldn't be surprised if different PDF creators produce different file
sizes for the same document. 

File size depends on the dpi setting, image compression level, and number of
pages. Adobe Acrobat gives you complete control over dpi and image
compression. The other third-party products probably manage compression and
dpi in different ways and diffrent levels of quality.

The free version of CutePDF does not let you control dpi or compression (I
imagine the paid version might), but I've found that it provides relatively
small, clean PDF files.
