There might be something in the options/preferences for that application
that say something like "minimize to system tray" or "don't show on
minimize".

Also can he get back to the application by pressing alt-tab?

Just some ideas

Okay, sorry John,

I had it a little off. Here's the scenario.

He has the window as per normal, and there's the regular buttons at the
top right, including the "-" that represents "minimize". Here's what
happens when he does minimize.

Normally it will appear on the taskbar. But on his system, it
"disappears", and is nowhere to be seen. But if he right-clicks on the
taskbar, and selects "Task Manager", then the application appears in
that window, and he can click it and it comes back. It's an extra
irritating hassle.

Any suggestions?
