I like Dell, just purchased a 9300 off Ebay for $1350 (XP pro, office
pro 2003, much more...) including shipping. I always Google electronics
to read reviews from other consumers and pro reviewers. Don't know how
the 9300 stacks up to the models listed below but my nephew is sure
happy with his.

Good luck.

Thanks.

I'd go with the IBM ThinkPad.

I Probably will not purchase another Toshiba (available at CostCo)
because
of their attitude towards operating systems that they didn't install.
Eg:
you are screwed and they will NOT help. Even if you just want to go
from XP
Home to XP Pro.

No experience with Acer.
