If you can combine it with the directory exclusion "\WDSC\*.JAR", it
should be safe enough. 

Two other ways of using AV software that make it less obtrusive:
- If you think you're a safe user and you don't use IE, disable
on-access scanning and only do scheduled scans overnight/after hours
when the machine is otherwise idle.
- Do the reverse; do on-access scans of everything but don't do full
system scans on a scheduled basis.  Manually kick one off once in a
while.  This relies on your browsing habits + the on-access scanning to
be sufficient and uses the occasional manual full scan as a
verification.

Or just ditch that pesky Java stuff. :)
