I don't know about jumpers ... but I was able to format some AS400 SCSI
drives for use in a PC by just using the built in low-level format
utility on the scsi card (Adaptec).

This was a while ago ... so I don't know if anything has changed.

FWIW: When I did this it was primarily as a proof of concept exercise
... the drives were incredibly loud ... my wife would have killed me if
I actually had put any of them into use.
