A few years ago I had a need for a fairly sophisticated way to deal with
messages. Cell phones weren't even available then.

What worked best for me was a answering service. I found a service that had
live operators 24/7. The staff was offering more than just taking messages.
They were not as good a secretary but they did keep track of stuff for me,
and they gave me a pager too. They paged me when they had a message they
and I had agreed was important. This took care of the "honey, bring bread
home" kind of messages. My clients and customers liked it a lot.

Of course today's technology does wonders, but if you want an edge with your
contacts, nothing beats a real human voice with no accent.

Subject: [PCTECH] Recomendation needed: Voicemail provider

Folks:

I am in desperate need of a voice mail service. I don't mind paying a
few bucks a month.

My basic needs are: local or toll free access number, local number for
leaving messages, email notification of messages, net access to messages
(nice to have).

Any suggestions?

Thanks!
