Hi David -

So the question is: Should I extend the service contract or get a new
system?

I vote for the new system. (Unless I have some specific reason to do otherwise, I contribute by referencing your Amazon Affiliate when I buy stuff through Amazon.com, regardless of whether what I am buying has anything to do with the iSeries or computers at all.)

Personally, any more I build and service my own systems. The uptime on my Linux-based firewall/router and my Linux-based server is 448 days and some odd hours; which is since my last hardware upgrade of the two systems. (The same number of days for both because the firewall/router got parts out of the server and the server got new.) Of course my systems don't handle nearly the level of traffic as yours (but I suspect they could).
