Glenn,

If I understand your question, I have a similar setup to what you
describe. There is no phone plugged into my Vonage adapter, instead it
is connected into my old land line wiring in the basement, which drives
3 cordless and 2 corded phones on three different floors. Near as I can
tell, there is no degradation of quality anywhere in the system.

I feel that the line quality is excellent, at least comparable to my
former land line. Unlike some, I took the plunge and switched my number
to Vonage and no longer have the land line. A UPS on the cable modem
and telephone adapter gives me power protection, at least for a while.
I also keep cell phones handy just in case. The 911 situation is not
perfect yet, though I understand it is quickly getting resolved with the
new E911 scheme.

Subject: Re: [PCTECH] What phone(s) to get with vonage and a land line?

How well does Vonage work if there is on phone near the entry
point connection and a hard wired extension( not cord-less) some 50-60
feet away on another floor?

I also am hearing it misses calls and the line quality is not good?
Who is the best vendor here?

Thanks
