Does anyone know anything about spamcop?
A bit.
Emails I initiate from my gmail account aren't reaching one of my clients, and a couple are getting bounced with a "blacklisted" return. the link goes to this page: http://www.spamcop.net/w3m?action=checkblock&ip=66.249.92.169 which says google.com is on their blacklisted server list. How can they blacklist gmail?
I've heard of this before ... spamcop tends to be a tad on the aggressive side when it comes to blocking servers (not as aggressive as some, however, more on that later). Is the mail being rejected back to you or are you just getting a delay message?
I sent the suggested email to abuse@xxxxxxxxxx, but no reply yet.
I would send mail to gmail's help address, not to google's abuse address. You want a problem solved, not to report abuse. As for the aggressiveness of block lists ... I periodically check to make sure my servers aren't on the any ... when one of mine did show up, I was concerned. It's listed in Blars block list (http://www.blars.org/errors/block.html) ... and I know some servers use this list ... the problem is: it's hyper aggressive and the guy who runs it is an absolute jerk. AFAICT, he's just running it so that people can shoot themselves in the foot. Based on the verbiage on his page, I doubt he would ever remove an entry. david
