Naw - I wouldn't have done any of that stuff. Our youngest was wanting to
use it for tracking down some videos via Google. He found some AMAZING
Hendrix stuff that way when we were in LA.

The browsers aren't what was hijacked.  It was the "Internet" connection.
All port 80 (perhaps even all regardless of port) where sent to the same
place....that page.

You just didn't get what was expected when trying to use a "free unsecured"
wireless connection.  What would be nasty was if they where to ALLOW you
access to the Internet...and record everything you did while on the net.
What passwords would you have entered? Bank info would you have downloaded?
Plain text email?

Would that "free" connection have been worth it?
