Talk to my provider ROTFL! Seriously, I have. They are going to monitor the
line and then send a technician out - I should hear from them in 10 to 15
working days. BTW - my provider takes two weeks to answer an e-mail and
tells me to phone the help line (not a free phone number) where I spend 15
minutes listening to a message about how I can get online support.

I have the keep alive function set on the router.

It sounds like your DSL service is the problem ... have you talked to
your provider about the issue?  They should be able to monitor the
connection to see what's happening.

As a stop gap solution ... does your router have a keep-alive function?
  My linksys wrt54g has a function where it will try to keep the
connection active and reconnect if it drops.
