I decided to just buy a standard wireless router for now and to disable file
and printer sharing and make sure the Windows firewall is enabled. This
won't stop all viruses the renters may "acquire" but should stop the
"common" person from getting access to their PC. I told my dad if he ever
has a problem with a renter, we can buy a second router and create a
make-shift DMZ.

I think that's been tried ... and failed.

My gut says they would loose far too many customers if broadband ISP's
started enforcing that kind of rule.
