unfortunately there are many programs that are set to start automatically
when windows is started.
Some seem to be run as a 'service' that is set to automatic.
Some can be dealt with in other ways:
MS Windows Messenger has a Tools/Options/Preferences check box
WINZIP can be stopped by a right click on the system tray icon and then
click exit, a prompt will then ask if you want that exit to be permanent or
until next restart.
Adobe fast load is set in the Start/Startup folder
MS Office fast load is set in the Start/Startup folder
etc, etc,

Subject: [PCTECH] Programs that start automatically after boot
I have quite a number of programs installed in my PC.
Many of them, e.g. SQL Server, MSN Messenger, etc are not used everyday,
but only very occasionally.
But every time, after boot of the PC, they all start up consuming a lot
of time until system is really available to work with.
I've tried looking into
- Inicio (Spanish version of Start ?) ,
- MSConfig, ... With MSConfig, the list of programs is such a huge
bunch, with names I can't even figure out to which programs belong, or
what thy are used for...
- Regedit
Is there any esaier way to stop some programs from staring
automatically, rather than uninstalling them?
