They're already spoofing packets. It isn't much of a stretch to find out they've been spoofing certs too. My original note wasn't intended to be a Chicken Little scenario, but a thought experiment on how bad things might be once you no longer trust the comms carrier.

Once you've found out that your letter carrier has been writing letters to your family using your name, address and signature, what would inspire your belief that he's not tampered with other, more important mail?
