I use my laptop in my vehicle a lot, and that is why I bought the Complete
Care warranty from Dell. With this warranty, they don't ask any questions
about how it got damaged.

I have found that the power connector on most laptops is the most fragile
device on it. On most machines it is directly soldered to the motherboard,
so if it breaks, it requires motherboard replacement.

I've had the motherboard replaced on my two Dell laptops several times now
because of the power connector getting damaged from the laptop getting
dropped, falling off the seat in the car with the power cord attached, etc.

On the new MacBook Pro, Apple has introduced the MagSafe power connector
...if you hit it, it pops off without damage. Other manufacturers should
take notice!
