I was just injecting a bit of sarcasm in my response when I said we were
lucky. Consider it a knee jerk response to the tiresome MS bashing.
Maintaining a reliable network of hundreds of machines can't be done with
luck, regardless of what OS you're running.

Personally, I found Linux to be very frustrating and problematic when I
tried it. Of course, I didn't blame the OS for that. Since many others have
proven that it can provide a solid platform, it was obvious to me my
problems were simply a result of my lack of skill. XP is no different. If
you know what you're doing, it's easy.

I don't see luck being a factor in my case.

I make regular image backups of my computers which take only a short
time to
restore to a new HD in the case of disk failure.

I have also become quite adept at finding and fixing problems with
Windows
applications (with the help of Google searches and/or
support.microsoft.com), thus avoiding the necessity to have to restore
a
machine from a backup in the first place in order to fix a broken
application.
