My current Magellan SportTrak Pro is pretty old and I think it needs
to be replaced.

I've been looking at the various units available ... but would
appreciate some advice.

I've heard raves about TomTom but I didn't catch the specifics. According
to their flyer in the mail, Radio Shack is having their "back to school"
sale which features GPS units from all of the major manufactures. Funny
thing is that when I was young and went back to school all I needed was
pens, pencils, and notebooks (the inexpensive, non-electric kind).
