This thing is advertised on TV; I didn't know Target sells them. It
looks kind of cheesy (and trailer-park-ish), but it works very well.
The "simulated woodgrain" one may look a bit higher class. It is
sturdier than it looks; it is more than strong enough for a laptop or
as a homework table.

It is essentially a well-designed TV tray; it can slides in closer,
and has the capability to adjust height and angle.

The biggest advantage the "lap-dawg" seems to have is that is adjusts
short enough to be used in bed; if you need that capability this won't
work.
