Problem got solved. He put on another new modem and all the problems went away.
Thanks for the response, Tom.

I am grasping at straws here. I have been dialing into a client network modem for more than 10 years. Its generally worked pretty well, even if the best speed we ever got was 21,600. This has been with different computers and different modems.

Lately I have been getting kicked off fairly regularly, and many times I can't dial in again until I remove the device and then reboot my PC and let it discover the modem again. Even then it is not a predictable result. I have swapped out 4 different modems, and the client has changed their modem once.

Anyone have any suggestions? I sure am stumped.

I haven't seen an answer yet to "What kinds of modems?"

I have a USB modem that's handy in some circumstances (which is why I bought it), though I wouldn't want to use it regularly. Disconnects are too frequent.

What modem are you using? What is on the other end?
