I've got a PC at home that I want to put more memory in. Normally, when I build a PC I match the memory up with the motherboard specs and all is well. In this case I don't know what I've got, either the motherboard or memory. I just want more of the same. What do I need to look for on the chips to tell me what I've got? Does this vary from manufacturer to manufacturer? (This is going to me a Christmas present to myself.)

If you have a purchased PC, it is a matter of looking up in the manufactures database and see what it has.

For black boxes, I usually get useful information from SIW http://www.gtopala.com/.

If not, then it is time to bring it to a knowledgeable person :D
