Pat -

I had Black Ice Defender installed on my personal laptop and connected to my
client's network in 2001 when the Nimda virus penetrated their system.

I knew about the infection almost immediately - Black Ice notified me of the
attempts to attack my system.

I notified the networking department about the infection before /they/ knew
that they were infected. One of their salesmen brought an infected laptop
into the building and connected it to the network, and they obviously didn't
have proper virus protection installed on all of the computers on the
network.

I was drafted to be on the team that went around to over 500 machines in the
building. We first disconnected ALL PC's from the network, then ran a virus
scan program from a cd/diskette on each machine to verify/clean each system
before reconnecting them to the network. We were down for almost a week
getting everything cleaned up...
