I know enough to figure out 'digicam', and I _think_ I recall
correctly that 'SLR' stands for 'single lens reflex' or something
like that, though I have no clue what that means. "P&S" -- ummm...
"point & shoot"?

We've just covered my personal knowledge base! "Pro-sumer" clearly
is above my grade. My comment hopefully fills in the bottom of the
opinion scale for Dave.

At one point in my life, prior to the digital age, I was really into
photography (did the darkroom thing and everything). Then along came
computers and photography took a backseat. ...and then along came a wife
and kids and my budget took a back seat. I believe that there's a place
for both point-and-shoot and digital SLR cameras just like I have both
desktop and laptop computers. Right now I need to replace my
point-and-shoot. I did look at some DSLR's but they were physically
bigger and more expensive than what I want right now. I did take another
look at the Cannon Powershot the other night but the store was sold out.
Tonight I plan to try another store.
