Chrome is absolutely faster than IE6 and IE7, not sure about IE8. I
initially liked it better than FireFox, but have since switched back for
everything except Gmail because of the NoScript FF add-in.

IE8 has add-in capability, and Google wrote an IE8 add-in that uses the
Chrome rendering and javascript engine. It apparently does improve the
performance substantially, although I suspect that "a factor of 10" is
hyperbole.
