Of course, other things to do to clean up a PC include uninstalling any apps
that are no longer used, run CHKDSK /F (may require a reboot) and then
delete and FOUND.000 directories (this is where recovered files are placed
if file system errors are detected), looking for large media files like
movies and things that can be purged, etc.

Look in %HOMEPATH%\Downloads for old stuff that was downloaded. %HOMEPATH%
= C:\Users\yourname in Vista/Win7 and C:\Dcouments and Settings in XP.

If you use IBM Fix Central to get PTFs check %HOMEPATH%\fixcentral. As a
rule you can easily spot PTF files v. fix central files but you can also
simply blow away that entire directory and it will get recreated the next
time.

If you use Outlook, clean up your files (don't forget the Sent folder and
old calendar items) and purge your deleted items. Then right-click Personal
Folders or Mail box (basically the root folder), Properties, Advanced, and
if you see a Compact Now button click it. If you don't see that button,
select the Advanced tab, select Offline Folder File Settings, and then click
Compact Now.
