Thanks. I'm on 2007 without Exchange; i.e., just getting everything direct
from the ISP. I simply had not drilled down far enough to find the password
settings in the account. I knew they had to be there somewhere.

Try this in Outlook 2010: File - Account Settings - Account Settings.
Select the account & click Change... - More Settings - Security tab - Check
"Always prompt for credentials".
