I've got a new PC with a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit. The PC
boots, windows starts, and then the monitor says that there is no signal
and goes to sleep. The hard drive light flashes occasionally like it's
waiting for a log in but I can't tell. If I boot into safe mode or the
last working startup then it displays fine. This first started when I
loaded the chipset and other drivers following the Windows install. I
reverted to the last working startup, loaded the drivers individually, and
it was OK. I rebooted and it was still OK. I ran Windows Update and it
lost the video signal again. I reverted to the last working startup and
it was OK. I let my wife use it to get on the Internet and a day later
she said that it was doing it again.

It's a DVI video output on the motherboard with no VGA, although the
monitor supports both. I do have a decent DVI card that I could stick in
it but I would prefer to get it working as is. Ideas?
