The problem still has not reoccurred. I even tempted fate by rebooting
this morning. No problem - FF stayed at the latest version.

"I now consider the problem resolved." If THAT statement doesn't bring the
problem back, nothing will.

It's been 3 days without a problem.

I decided to get really foolish... er, brave. and reboot.

Stayed at v10.0.2. Woohoo for now!

I'll try another reboot in a week and see what happens.

ccleaner is a great utility and I recommend a good ccleaner regularly,

No, I haven't. But if it happens again, I'm going to run ccleaner
after the initial uninstall.

After posting mu issue, I found I'm not the only one. There are
at

of us, with no resolution yet.

And we're not all going back to the same old version, either.
I'll post the resolution, if we ever get one.

Have you tried running a registry cleaner after uninstalling FF Jeff?
It wasn't FF but I know that was what I needed to do to clean up a
similar kind of problem many years ago. Or going into the registry
and looking for any FF entries yourself?
