I have to agree with several others on Microsoft's Security Essentials.
We've been using it at work here for a couple of years and I've made sure my
home computers and a few family members have uninstalled their bloatware
software and use this instead. It has a small footprint, you don't notice
it and it seems to catch a lot of problems (for those at work that still
don't understand spam links). Biggest bonus: it's free!
