I can believe that, however, in my case, the ldap_connect followed by ldap_bind is successful. Presumably, according to the citation you provided

"*ldap_connect()* will always return
a resource<http://www.php.net/manual/en/language.types.resource.php> as
it does not actually connect but just initializes the connecting
parameters. The actual connect happens with the next calls to ldap_*
funcs, usually with ldap_bind()"

I am actually connecting to the AD successfully.

The problem seems to be my search arguments. Any insight on that?
