I think that you will be happy with it. If nothing else, it will get you a backup while you're looking for something better and the price is right.

The one thing that I got to thinking about was your requirement to have multiple copies of the backup. You could set up multiple jobs going to multiple folders with each running on a different day. If you're just doing a sync (as opposed to a full copy) it takes a lot less time. It would be interesting to see how that works with multiple copies of the backup. Have fun.

Just installed a Win 7 Pro desktop (first Win 7 desktop, though we have
several Win 7 laptops)

I don't like the backup that comes with Win 7. What freeware backup are
some of you using? I want to back up 1) to a file server on the network,
2) on a set schedule at night, 3) keeping X number of copies and then
overwriting.
