And FWiW: If the data from the .lgs file is put "on the IFS" into a user space (*USRSPC) object under the /QSYS.LIB file system, then the data can be processed as a stream without any [stream] file APIs; using the Retrieve Pointer to User Space (QUSPTRUS) API and pointer-based addressing or the Retrieve User Space (QUSRTVUS) API if not using pointers:
