Gary,

I've tried everything but #2, but have swaped out the VGA cable and DVI
adaptor to no avail.

A dedicated video board is being used, so I'll try swaping that out.

Thanks for the help.

Bob

There are lots of things that could be the problem. Heres a start:

1. Try a different monitor.
2. Try a different video board. If your video is part of the mother board
add a new
video card and disable the mother board video in the BIOS.
3. Unplug all external drives/USB except the keyboard and mouse.

Good luck,

Gary

[PCTECH] Windows machine died last night at exact:

Very strange. Other things on my network tell me that this machine was
last seen at 12:00:33am.

Monitor doesn't see it (no input) even if it is powered on.

Another strange thing is that it wont power down,. Eg: If the pc I
turned
on, fans running, etc etc, then press and hold the power switch, then
release it, the machine does not shutdown.

Pull the plug and of course it goes down. Put the plug back in and push
&
hold power switch and it tryied to come back up. lights and fan come on
but that's it.

Now I dont even get that.

Looking at the mother board, I see a couple of capacitors that "don't
look
right". You can a pic here:

I had to remove the CPU fan to get to them.

So.... Anybody have any idea what has happened?

The midnight thing just really bugs me. 33 seconds after midnight is
just
to close. I'm one of the last to call "virus", but ???? Just in case
that
was the problem, I unplugged the 2 hard drives in the machine. no joy.
