Use Ghost or Acronis to image the drive or replicate the drive first.
Then put the drive in and see what happens.
Will either work or it won't :-)

All,
A salesrep has a Dell E6500 that's acting up on him. Shuts down intermittently. I have a couple of spare Dell E6400s in the office. From what I see online, the drives are /physically/ interchangeable. What might I run into by swapping the drives later this week? Will Windows install new drivers for whatever other hardware differences there are?
