Well, I didn't go through the exercise.
Anyway, last night 22 updates were installed. Wahoo!

Have you opened up Windows Update and ran a check for updates? Perhaps it
has checked but not downloaded them? Try doing a manual check/install then
reboot when it's done. Keep doing this until it doesn't find anything. Do
you still have the icon?
