Febreeze is supposed to remove odors - not just cover up. (Sorry to sound like
a commercial).
The only issue I have with Febreeze is that the scents they use tend to be
strong.

Thanks, Dave. Her boss is getting her a new computer, but it will be a
couple of days . . .

From what I've googled so far, it doesn't sound promising. Just have to
get her through a couple of days as best we can. She is actually somewhat
allergic to smoke. Gives her headaches. Which in turn gives me a
headache. :)

Not with computers but... Last spring I bought a full size arcade game
that came from a guy who lived in a small apartment with his chain smoking
family. I had heard that putting charcoal briquettes would absorb smoke
smell. I put some inside and it may have helped a little. I spent hours
and hours washing it down, taking every bit of it apart and cleaning each
piece with Simple Green. The tar that was on everything was incredible.
Ultimately, I sanded and painted the inside of the cabinet.
Your smoke may not be that bad but I doubt if there is a "quick fix".
Take apart, clean, rinse and repeat (literally). If that fails, paint.

Subject: [PCTECH] Get smoke smell out of computer

My wife works in a small (2 people) office. Yesterday an electrical fire
in the office below spread to their office from the office below. The
office is unusable but she is bringing her office computer (an all-in-one)
to the house today to use it.

It reeks of smoke. Anyone experienced in any tricks to get rid of the
smell? I can google for solutions myself (like vinegar, etc), just curious
as to any actual experiences here.

Thanks.
