Actually the eM client software seems to work pretty well.

Put it on one of my really low end tablets to test.

It's a little chatty on email retrieval, but I have a really large mailbox.

subject: Re: [PCTECH] eM Client email client

Folks:

A follow up:

A short while ago I was looking for a replacement for Outlook. My reasons were the outlook client just did not seem to play well with Google business mail and the new security changes Google put in. Several discussion points regarding the google web client and various alternatives were discussed, all very good. In the end we found the problem I was chasing had nothing to do with Outlook, rather our email/virus/spam scanner firewall. It was the device that could not communicate with Google not Outlook.

Since then we have changed out to a different provider for scanning and everything works as it should. I don't go through the hassle of implementing another email client (the change from Thunderbird to Outlook was painful) nor do I have to purchase anything more (other than the scanning service). A Win Win.

One thing I did learn in the process was Google's instructions on how to set up the MX and SPF records for a location are not complete. Once we got past that all is well.
