To open the console in Chrome, press CTRL-SHIFT-I.

That should pop up a new window, or possibly open the tools in a pane in the browser.

Then click on the Console tab and navigate to the page giving you problems.

You probably want to check the "Preserve log" box, so the log isn't cleared every time you navigate to a new page.
