I have not seen it mentioned, nor do I know the cost details. But one of the companies for which I did work used VNC. I Only used the client/viewer which, apparently, was free (i.e., I downloaded it from the web).

Anyway, it allowed me to see everything that the user was doing and even to run stuff while on their system. The funny thing (not speaking of stand-up) was that both of us could run things (more or less) simultaneously; i.e., I would move the cursor and, suddenly, it would move to another location. Took awhile for me to discover that the "real" user was trying to do something at the same time.

If Remote Desktop ain't your cup of tea we use Dameware.

For remote use I've tried IBM's colloborative solutions https://apps.na.collabserv.com But we have our own accounts there.
You can log in as guest. It works ok in a pinch but you have to download a little something for screen sharing.

We're going to full WebEx and throwing some serious money into that.

Seems to me that whichever option you choose you should spend a few
dollars on at least a single user license for your team to use.

My favs are Webex, Gotomeeting, Join.Me and Teamviewer.

You get what you pay for ?
