What you would normally do instead is register both names in DNS and have
them point to the same location.
But that's if you want to choose the full domain.

Depends on the hosting provider.

Google domains provides that capability ... as does name.com (the two
I've worked with).

If you want to create a short name, and don't care if the name is
meaningful, you can use bit.ly.

Bitly also provides whitelabel services if you have your own short domain
(like my urlq.me or ibm.co).
