David - it sounds as if you must have declared the parameter in question       
as CONST. If that is so, then the compiler is correct in not allowing          
you to take the address of it. If it were to do so, you could base             
another variable on the pointer and change it's contents. Since CONST          
states that the parameter is read-only, the compiler has to ensure that        
that's how you treat it.                                                       

I suspect that VALUE also has the same effet. If this is not what you're       
doing, I'd need to see a copy of the code - or a subset that                   
demonstrates the problem.
