FTP

     I need your expertise.
     I need to transfer data between an AS/400 and a PC.  Some of the 
     fields in the AS/400 file(s) are packed.  I am using FTP and 
     unfortunately, I am not having any luck with the packed fields.
     The data is transferring but it doesn't seem to be converting from 
     EBCDIC to ASCII. I do have the type set to ASCII.
     
     Am I doing something wrong ?  Is there a better way ?
     I am a TCPIP novice so your help is greatly appreciated.
