You know, "I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken" ;-)!  The real
answer to your subject question is "when your vendor provides you with a
"feature" which interferes with your normal operations, yet you can find no
useful purpose for it".  Hmmm, sounds like a good tag line ;-)...
