About LANSA and BPCS !!

Hi There,
        I just wanted to know what are these tools that people call LANSA and 
BPCS
on the AS/400. Can someone give me a small introduction and feedback about
these and the other tools that are used on the AS/400.
        If I do plan to do a course for some tool here, then which one do you
think would be advisable for the long run.
