In ILE RPG, there is a Data Structure which allows you to get multiple system variables. What follows is a /COPY file I've called PRINTFDS. D PRT1 DS D STDFIL *FILE D STDFMT *RECORD D STSTS *STATUS D STLBF1 93 102 0 D STLP 152 153B 0 D STCOLS 154 155B 0 D STOA 188 189B 0 D STLINE 367 368B 0 D STPAGE 369 372B 0 D SDS D STPRG *PROC D STEXTP 40 42 D STEX# 43 46 D STMSG 91 170 D STJOB 244 253 D STUSR 254 263 D STJOB# 264 269 0 d* HOW TO PUT IN PROGRAM d** /COPY COPYLIB/QRPGLESRC,PRINTFDS d**************************************************************** This allows me to get the file, record format, status, error codes, messages, job attributes, print file attributes, etc., all within my RPG program real time. Works great. I've used it to do a number of things, including getting the user id. -Chris -----Original Message----- From: Chuck Lewis <CLEWIS@IQUEST.NET> To: RPG400-L@midrange.com <RPG400-L@midrange.com> Date: Friday, January 29, 1999 9:45 AM Subject: Re: User-id retrieval >Srinivas, > >Several different ways to do it: > >In a CLP > >DCL VAR(&USER) TYPE(*CHAR) LEN(10) > >and then > >RTVJOBA USER(&USER) > >In RPG IV I THINK you can use the LDA but I don't have an example of that >handy right now; but sure someone else can step in with this ! > >Chuck > >"G.R.Srinivas" wrote: > >> Hello Everybody, >> Can anyone of you help me in rerieving USER-ID?. >> Thanks in advance. >> Srinivas. >> >> _________________________________________________________ >> DO YOU YAHOO!? >> Get your free @yahoo.com address at http://mail.yahoo.com >> >> * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * >> * This is the RPG/400 Discussion Mailing List!
