If the function keys are defined as CAxx (command action), then only the
command key value is passed to the program.
If you have keyed anything into input capable fields on the screen before
hitting CA03, then only CA03 gets passed, not the keyed data.
If you press Enter before hitting CA03 then the input fields get passed, but
the program must display the screen again.  Pressing CA03 on the redisplay
only passed the command key, the other data was already in the program.

If the function keys are defined as CFxx (command function), then they work
as Enter plus the Command key.
Thus, if you have keyed anything into the fields before pressing CF03, then
the input gets passed to the program along with the command key value.

I was taught to use CA keys if the program was not not use the data on the
screen, for instance F3 (cancel), F12 (Return).
Use CF if the command key has a purpose along with the data, like F4 + value
to prompt for values starting with keyed value, F2 to verify the data on the
screen etc.

        I have a program that uses a subfile to get input values. There I
don't need to
        press Enter after entering a value. I just press a function key such
as F3 to
        save the value in the file. But if I'm trying to do so in a simple
non-subfile
        record format, it's not doing, I have to press Enter first and then
press the
        function key to save.

        Is there another way around?
